This is a bottom-up LCD SLA resin printer: the UV light source sits beneath
the resin vat, and the print platform lowers into the resin and lifts as
each layer cures, so the model appears to rise up out of the vat. A few
honest notes for buyers:
- Platform leveling is the most sensitive setup step — getting the build
platform parallel to the LCD screen (using the paper-and-Allen-wrench
method) took a few attempts to get right, but once dialed in it stuck.
- Print quality when properly calibrated is genuinely excellent — a
standard test cube and a Benchy tugboat benchmark both came out with
crisp detail and clean internal latticework that's hard for FDM printers
to match.
- SLA printing is slow (this unit prints roughly 20mm of height per hour),
and post-print cleanup is a real step, not an afterthought: rinsing in
isopropyl alcohol, letting parts cure further under sunlight, and
filtering/storing leftover resin.
- Ventilation matters — resin has a strong odor during printing, and this
unit's rear fan helps but a well-ventilated space is still recommended.
- Handle liquid resin with gloves/mask (skin irritant) and keep isopropyl
alcohol on hand for cleanup.
Bottom line: a sturdy, well-built entry point into resin printing that
produces excellent detail once you've learned the calibration/cleanup
routine — expect some trial and error getting there, which is typical for
SLA printers in this price range generally.
