Very rare Acer Iconia 6120. This laptop has been upgraded to 8GB ram and 2TB SSD storage. Windows 10 Pro with last know compatible build that works with the touch screen drivers. Windows update is disabled because if you let it update the touchscreens will no longer work. At least as far as I know. I haven’t tried it for a few years. The original programs like the Acer ring are not installed and don’t work in windows 10 as far as I know. They are on the disc that is included. There are several dedicated forums online with good info on these computers and all the ways people still use them today. It is definitely very cool and will be a conversation piece for anyone who has an interest in electronics. These were very rare from the beginning and most people don’t know that they exist. Acer built these as a way to show off what the company was capable of way back in 2010. Most of them didn’t survive because they are fragile and will not handle being dropped or damaged. Which has made them even more rare. They suffer from a screen ghosting issue which I’m sure frustrated some users as well. This is very common and is now known to be caused by static electricity. This particular unit has had this happen a few times but a simple touch of the screen and touch of the ground instantly fix’s the problem. To be clear, hold the screen with one hand and touch the ground with the other. This should discharge any built up static. Restarting the machine also works. I think this happens partially because the case is metal. Anyways, I would highly recommend doing a fair bit of research prior to purchase. Some people prefer to just use a mouse and keyboard and put the laptop on a stand.
In summary, I could talk about this for a long time, please message me with any questions. These computers are collectors items. Yes, you can still use them for basic functions and they look really cool siting on your desk but you probably wouldn’t use them for gaming. This computer is maxed out for upgrading with the exception of switching the cpu to slightly faster one. And yes, you can do that. It’s just a much harder upgrade because you have to disassemble the bottom half to access the cpu. The cpu is not soldered in. It’s drop like a desktop. Could be a fun project for the right person. I just never got around to it. I also think there could be a way to add a second SSD by way of the M.2 slot by the WiFi transmitter but I haven’t found anyone else who was successful at doing so.
The disc included has all the original software and drivers. They can be kind of hard to find online. Also, I will be keeping other copies so if you need them for some reason just message me. Anyways, please look at the pictures closely for cosmetic issues. Unit is in good shape for its age. Does have a few small dents and dings. Battery does hold a charge. Not sure for how long. These units are very taxing on batteries due to the 2 screens. It will work with adapter only and I have seen extended capacity batteries and normal capacity batteries for sale online.
