For sale is a Mac Classic II
This Mac has been restored to good working order. Every single electrolytic capacitor on the analog board has been replaced as well as the CNY-17 optoisolator. The motherboard was also recapped at the same time - photos of both boards are included. The original Pram battery was removed to prevent battery bombing and a coin cell lithium adapter was installed to keep the motherboard safe.
The Classic is installed with System 7.1 on a BlueScsi 2 SD card drive. A customized MicroSD card extension is mounted in the Kensington Lock port allowing for easy access to the card without having to open the case. This a no-cut modification and fully reversible - the case is stock and I won't cut holes to modernize vintage hardware. Using an SD Card hard drive dramatically improves reliability and makes it easier to install new software. A number of vintage apps and games are installed on the drive to get you started. There is also a copy of the MacPack on a separate partition giving access to 1000's of other applications and games from different eras of Macintosh to try out.

The screen is sharp and bright, as it has been recapped there is no waviness or other electrical gremlins. Video of operation provided - note that the video shows the scanlines on the screen due to camera frame rates but in real life it is sharp and clear.
The case is in good shape, with few small scratchesand nicks. There is small chip crack on the top right that has been resin filled to repair it.
The floppy disk drive has been serviced, cleaning the heads and the old grease. It has a new eject gear. It reads and writes disks without issues and the eject mechanism is working as it should.

In short, leaking capacitors, bad batteries, corrosion, old grease & oil, and magnetic breakdown are taking our digital history from us. Every vintage computer will eventually cease to function, in some cases irrevocably, if we don't take the necessary steps to repair and protect them. Emulation and software archives are an important part of protecting this digital past (support the Internet Archive, Macintosh Garden and others - they are doing great work!) - but being able to run it on real hardware and experience it as it was is just as important. Taking the steps now to keep these machines operational preserves them for future generations to enjoy. It also gives peace of mind that you receive a machine that will be operational and able to be enjoyed as it was supposed to be.
