Clear/translucent Apple Newton MessagePad 110 from my personal collection, retained since my years working at Apple, where I shipped 13 products. Includes its original Apple H0148LL/A shipping carton marked “PDA F/A, MSGPAD 110, EMP BNDL,” original retail box, charging station, modem, 2 MB card, Connection Kit, case, software, manuals and extensive original ephemera. Sold together as one dir="auto" data-start="531" data-end="691" here is my personal Apple Newton MessagePad 110 collection, retained since my years working atApple, where I worked on and shipped13 products as a member of the Eclipse (Quadra 900, 950), Wombat (Quadra 800, 650, 610, PowerMac 7200, et al), and Epic (PowerBook 1400) teams.

This is not a collection assembled recently from separately acquired pieces. The Newton and this extensive group of original packaging, accessories, software and documentation have remained together, unused, and in my possession.

ORIGINAL APPLE “EMP BNDL” SHIPPING CARTON - the Newton Employee Bundle

Of particular interest, I retained the original Apple outer shipping carton. Its Apple logistics label identifies it as:

Inside is the original Newton MessagePad 110 retail box, identified as:

The serial number shown on the original retail packaging appears to correspond to the MessagePad itself. Detailed photographs of the identifying labels are included in the listing.

THE CLEAR/TRANSLUCENT MESSAGEPAD

Clear/translucent MessagePad 110s are known within the Apple/Newton collecting community, and other examples have been described over the years as special-edition, developer and pre-production machines.

I donothave documentation identifying this particular unit as an engineering prototype or assigning it to a specific DVT/PVT or other development stage. I therefore make no such representation.

What I can document is the machine itself, its clear/translucent purpose-molded enclosure, its identifying markings, my personal Apple provenance, and the original Apple shipping and retail packaging that have remained with it.

Collectors are encouraged to examine the detailed photographs and draw their own conclusions.

KNOWN MISSING ITEM

The original7 VDC AC power supply is missing and is NOT included.

Because the original supply is absent, I have not recently powered the MessagePad or charging station. Unless the listing is subsequently updated following testing, the electronic components should therefore be considereduntested.

I have not attempted to charge or use the approximately 30-year-old rechargeable battery pack.

CONDITION

This is an original vintage collection more than 30 years old.

I have deliberatelynot polished, restored, disassembled or cleaned the translucent MessagePad. It is being presented as it has survived rather than cosmetically restored for sale.

The enclosure has normal age and handling evidence. The original boxes have normal shelf, edge and storage wear. The manuals, literature and other ephemera have generally survived remarkably well.

The charging station, modem, flash card, carrying case and other accessories appear physically intact. No operational representation is being made for untested electronic components.

PROVENANCE

This Newton comes from my personal collection and dates from my years atApple, where I worked on and shipped 13 products and wrote my first 10 U.S. patents as a member of several core design teams. (An aside: life at Apple was very much like dog-years - every year seemed like seven). I retained the MessagePad together with its original packaging and a substantial collection of contemporary Newton accessories, software, documentation and ephemera. After more than three decades I do not have documentation explaining precisely why this particular MessagePad has its translucent enclosure. Rather than attach a speculative prototype or development designation to it, I have described the machine and its provenance as accurately as I can and photographed the identifying details for prospective collectors. I vividly recall that when internally ordering this bundle, one could specify translucent or dark plastics.

This collection is being offeredintact as one lot. I am not presently interested in separating the MessagePad, accessories, documentation or packaging.

Everything pictured is included except for any obvious photographic/background items not related to the Newton collection.

The individual components and original packaging will be carefully protected for shipment.
