The battery is worn out. The photo shows 3 bars of 5. it never went higher but after putting a load on it, it died quickly and never recovered/recharged again. It just was plugged in so much I guess it never got to find out the battery was dead. It's dead now and will not charge because the safety chip has kicked in on the battery. This is expected for something this age. I was shocked it was still at 3 bars but it actually was not, it just sat at that all these years never being used until now due to a question asking me about this prompting me to test it. I don't think you'll find a working battery at this age. None of my other old laptops had working batteries even close to this age. Maybe somebody makes a 3rd party?
