Apple Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh (TAM) – PowerPC 250MHz – 64MB RAM – Restored & Tested
Offered here is an Apple Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh (TAM), one of Apple's most unique and collectible Macintosh computers. This machine has been freshly wiped and restored using the original Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh system software, and has been thoroughly tested to ensure the primary functions are working properly.
RESTORED SOFTWARE
The original internal hard drive was completely initialized and given a clean installation of Mac OS 7.6.1, the operating system originally supplied with the Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh.
The restoration includes the TAM-specific software and components, including:
- Mac OS 7.6.1
- System Enabler 704
- Apple FM Radio
- Apple Video Player
- AppleCD Player
- MoviePlayer / QuickTime
- FM Radio Extension
- TV Tuner
- AppleVision
- SystemAV
- AppleScript
- Sound Control Panel
- QuickDraw
- Additional software originally included with the TAM system software
The internal hard drive is approximately 2GB, formatted as a single HFS volume.
HARDWARE
The computer has a PowerPC 603e processor running at 250MHz and 64MB of RAM.
The following functions have been tested and confirmed working:
- Built-in AppleVision display
- Display brightness controls
- Internal Bose audio system / speakers
- CD-ROM drive
- Audio CD playback
- Front-panel controls
- Keyboard
- Trackpad
- Sleep and wake functionality, including wake from both keyboard and trackpad
The machine boots normally from the internal hard drive and operates as expected under Mac OS 7.6.1.
ITEMS NOT TESTED
Because I do not have the necessary accessories/media to test every function, the following have not been tested:
- Built-in FM tuner — no external FM antenna included
- Built-in TV tuner — no TV antenna/cable signal available for testing
- Floppy drive — no floppy disk available for testing
- Individual external ports/peripherals
These items are therefore being sold as untested, rather than represented as working.
CONDITION
This is a vintage computer that is several decades old, so please expect normal age-related cosmetic wear like the frayed power cable in the back of the computer. Please examine all photos carefully, as they are considered part of the description.
The computer has been cleaned and the operating system has been freshly restored. It is being sold as-is, with the functional testing described above.
