They are a specialized Broadcom/Avago plastic optical fiber (POF) Fast Ethernet transceiver operating at 650 nm and 100 Mbps (125 MBd), designed to work with the Versatile-Link connector system and IEEE 802.3 100BASE-FX implementations over plastic optical fiber. You can find them on Mouser for $37 each. I am selling them for 1/2 price in packs of 25. I have 12 packs and volume discount pricing is available.
