To test this modem/router, I plugged my ethernet cable from my present router (T-Mobile Gateway located upstairs) into this one (CenturyLink C4000XGlocated downstairs). Yes, I have an ethernet cable going through the floor from upstairs to downstairs. And with thisCenturyLinkrouter I was able to extend wifi to my downstairs, to my cellphone, to my laptop, to my computer, and to my TVs.
I did not have to download an app. I simply plugged it in, waited about a minute, then saw the wifi appear on my screens and logged in with the password on the bottom of the router. Simple!
