ComNet CNGE2MCPOEM – 2 Port 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet Media Converter with High Power PoE

The CNGE2MCPOEM is a two-port gigabit Ethernet media converter that transmits and receives a single channel of Ethernet data over optical fiber via a user-selectable SFP. What separates it from an ordinary copper-to-fiber converter is that it also acts as power sourcing equipment: it supports IEEE 802.3at Class 1–4 Power over Ethernet with up to 30 watts to the remote powered device. That lets a single fiber run plus this unit deliver both the network link and the operating power to a device such as a PTZ camera or a wireless access point at the far end, with no local mains at the pole or cabinet.

It is environmentally hardened for out-of-plant service, designed to meet the full environmental requirements of NEMA TS-1/TS-2 and the Caltrans Specification for Traffic Signal Control Equipment, with voltage transient protection on all power and signal lines. The electrical interface auto-negotiates 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps with no adjustments and the optical interface runs at 1000 Mbps full duplex. No in-field optical adjustments are required, and because the fiber side is SFP-based, the same unit covers multimode or single mode and distances up to 120 km depending on the SFP fitted.
