This Commodore IEC Y breakout cable provides a convenient way to add a 3.5 mm TRRS connection to a standard Commodore IEC setup while still retaining a traditional IEC connection.
The cable has three ends:
- One Male IEC connector for connecting directly to the Commodore computer
- One Female IEC connector for connecting to a standard Commodore male-to-male IEC cable or compatible IEC device path
- One Male 3.5 mm TRRS connector for connecting to a compatible TRRS A/B switch, selector, or adapter
IEC Pass-Through Plus TRRS Breakout
This cable is useful when you want to keep a more traditional Commodore IEC connection available while also breaking out the main IEC bus lines to a standard 3.5 mm TRRS plug.
It can be used as part of a cleaner, more flexible Commodore setup where you want to reduce cable swapping, experiment with TRRS-based switching, or connect to compatible off-the-shelf 3.5 mm TRRS A/B switches available online.
By adapting the main Commodore IEC lines to TRRS, this cable gives you more freedom to arrange your desk, route your cables, and build out your setup without being locked into one specific switch box or cable layout.
Great for Cleaner Commodore Workspaces
Commodore setups can quickly become a mess of IEC cables running between computers, disk drives, printers, SD2IEC devices, and other accessories. This Y breakout cable helps tame that cord mess by giving you another way to route and organize your IEC connections.

Handmade Modified Cable
This cable starts with a premade overmolded IEC cable and is modified with a 3.5 mm TRRS male pigtail breakout. The TRRS connection is hand soldered, finished with strain relief, and tested for continuity before shipment.
The goal is to provide a practical, durable, ready-to-use specialty cable for Commodore users who want more flexibility than a standard IEC cable alone can provide.
TRRS Compatibility
The TRRS connector carries the following four IEC lines:
This makes it compatible with TRRS-based Commodore IEC switch setups that use these four lines. It may also be used with compatible off-the-shelf 3.5 mm TRRS A/B switches, as long as the switch passes all four TRRS conductors straight through.
Important Compatibility Note
This cable carries only DATA, CLOCK, ATTN, and GROUND on the TRRS connector. SRQ and RESET are not connected through the TRRS breakout.
This is not an audio cable. It uses a 3.5 mm TRRS connector as a convenient four-conductor connection for Commodore IEC signaling
