This card has a longer edge connector than a conventional 32-bit PCI card. This is intentional. The NC3131 uses a 32/64-bit PCI Universal Connector, allowing it to operate with compatible 32-bit or 64-bit PCI bus slots. The additional contacts provide the extended 64-bit PCI bus connection. MODULAR EXPANSION DESIGN:
The two white connectors visible on the card are factory expansion connectors for Compaq optional network daughter modules. The unusual spring-loaded opening in the rear bracket is also part of this factory modular design and provides access for the connector(s) of an installed upgrade module.Compaq offered several upgrades for the NC3131, including:* NC3132 — additional dual 10/100 Ethernet

* NC6132 — 1000BASE-SX Gigabit fiber
