Compaq Presario A900 17-in Display Laptop w Intel Pentium Dual-Core Win Vista
Price: US $49.99

This listing is for aCompaq Presario A900Laptopwith a large 17-in display. It is in very good condition - Clean, complete and, except for the dead main battery, is fully functional. There are a few scuff marks that are consistent with light use and the PC's age. It has an Intel Pentium Dual T2370 @1.73GHz CPU, 3GB RAM, and a 160GB SSD disk drive. Here is a full description as well as the pros and cons.

Description:

Windows Vista Home Premium (Activated).

Hard Drive – 160GB SSD

RAM – 3GBs RAM

CPU –Intel Pentium Dual T2370 @1.73GHz

Built-in Webcam and Microphone

WiFi

Ports - 3 X USB (2.0), S-Video, SD-Slot, VGA, Ethernet, Modem, Audio In/Out

DVD Read/Write

Pros:

Clean and functions completely. Except for a "Device Unknown" driver (See discussion below), all the drivers are installed.

Large 17-inch display

I have added Supermium (Internet Browser) and removed Internet Explorer

Cons:

1. The internalWiFi card is 802.11B/g and is very slow (See photos). I determined that it is much better to use an external USB dongle (not included). An external USB dongle will add more speed, and with the correct dongle, it can add Bluetooth functionality. I used a tp-Link AC1300 USB adapter (model Arch T4U) when determining the internet speed (See photos).

2. The main battery is dead and does not come with the power adapter

2. There is one missing "Unknown Device" driver. This driver is, "Conexant HD Audio Soft Data" used for the Fax Modem. I cannot find the driver on the internet.

3. Non-supported Operating System (see statement below).

Note: This system was restored to its original Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. This OS is no longer supported by Microsoft and many other software providers. Internet Explorer does not work anymore with this computer, so I have removed it and added the browser program, Supermium (Google). Only an individual that understands how to use Microsoft Vista Home Premium should purchase this computer. Unless you are going to install Linux or upgrading this laptop to Window 10/11, if you are looking to buy a general-use computer you should consider purchasing a Window 10/11 laptop. I will always accept returns, but you will need to pay shipping charges.

Note - Unless you are paying for and using “Expedited Shipping”, I reserve the right to select a shipping service (i.e. USPS, FedEx, or UPS), that has the quickest time, is insured, and is most economical regardless of what the “preferred shipping” is noted.

Feel free to send me questions or requests of photos.
