The "Common Slot" Era: While this PSU is specific to the Gen5 era, it paved the way for HPE’s highly successful "Common Slot" design. It features a tool-less handle (the blue lever) that makes removal and installation a 5-second task.

• Intelligent Power Management: When two of these are installed in a DL380 G5, the server’s Integrated Lights-Out (iLO 2) management chip can balance the load between them or put one into a "standby" mode to save electricity when the server's power draw is low.

• Auto-Sensing Input: This unit is globally compatible. It will automatically detect whether it is plugged into a standard 110V wall outlet or a 220V data center PDU. Note: To achieve the full 1000W output, it must be connected to a 200-240V power source.

🛠️ Installation & Maintenance

Hot-Swap Procedure: To install, simply slide the unit into the power supply bay until it clicks. To remove, press the blue release latch and pull the handle.

• LED Status Indicators:

  • Solid Green: Power is on and the unit is healthy.

  • Flashing Green: Unit is in standby mode or the server is off but the PSU is receiving AC power.

  • Amber/Off: Indicates a failure or a "Power Input" issue.

• Dust Management: Because G5 servers are legacy hardware, these PSUs often accumulate dust inside the small internal fan. It is highly recommended to use compressed air to clear the unit before installation to prevent thermal shutdowns.

⚠️ Voltage Reminder: If you plug this into a standard North American 110V outlet, your server will cap the power at 800W. If your server configuration (CPU/RAM/Disks) exceeds an 800W draw, the server may refuse to boot or will throttle performance until you provide 220V power.
