Dell HBA355i Adapter7GRF6 GJYVJ 12Gb SAS-3 PCIe 4.0 HBA IT Mode for ZFS TrueNAS unRAID
Listed for sale are Dell HBA355i Adapter controllers, with Dell P/N 7GRF6 or GJYVJ. These are the Dell equivalent to the Broadcom 9500-16i HBA SAS-3 controllers. They are ready for use with ZFS, TrueNAS, Unraid, or other technologies that require an HBA IT mode type of controller. These have been fully updated with Dell HBA355i IT (Initiator Target) firmware version P33 (specifically 33.00.00.00). They are also flashed with Dell BIOS ROM version 09.65.00.00 and UEFI ROM 33.00.00.00.
This card comes in full / standard profile, but also includes a low profile bracket. The PCIe brackets may not always be the original Dell brackets as some of these cards were installed in "internal" slots. I have added a suitable aftermarket bracket where necessary.

These HBA controllers are based on the Broadcom SAS3816 SAS controller chipset and support PCI-E 4.0 specifications with x8 lanes, providing up to 15,760MB/sec bandwidth between this card and your system! The controller has 1 SFF-TA-1016 MCIO 8i connector, carrying 8 SAS-3 lanes. You will need a compatible cable to connect these to your hard drives or backplane.
CAUTION:Please note that SFF-TA-1016 MCIO 8i cables have limited selection. Please be sure you are able to find the cables you need before ordering this card.
CAUTION #2:Although these Dell cards can work in non-Dell machines (I test them using Supermicro servers), some motherboards (mostly Gigabyte or HP, not exclusively) will conflict with the Dell SMBus signal. If you plan to use these in non-Dell servers/computers, I recommend you add the SMBus modification service apply the SMBus modification yourself. (I show you how on my YouTube channel)
These cards are fully tested in my Supermicro server running ZFS on Linux (ZoL), but this setup is also ideal for other ZFS setups, TrueNAS, unRAID, Proxmox VE, etc. I have fully tested them using all 8 SAS lanes.
