Due to its 12-layer PCB and robust 16-phase VRM design (with 2 phasesdedicated to memory), it facilitates stable memory speeds significantly abovestock limits. It can easily push DDR4 clock rates over 4000MT/s, into DDR5territory with stability. Ideal for demanding computing tasks, the EVGA X299Dark motherboard is a reliable choice for enthusiasts.

This was used for design and development work, it has notbeen seriously stressed for benchmarking or other application, but it caneasily handle overclocks. It was paired with an i9 10920X (see other listing)running 128GBs (4x32) of RAM stable. The many PCIe sockets and IO are more thanmost CPU PCI lanes can handle, allowing a lot of flexibility when configuredcorrectly. Personally, the 2 SFF-8639 ports are more reliable for U.2 SSDs thanother EVGA boards in the X299 family, though I did run into compatibility issueswith Dell-branded Gen4 U.2s (which would work at Gen3 speeds). For an i9processor, you can squeeze out almost every bit of IO the board physically haswithout much limitation. Truly an excellent board for the HEDT realm, which hasrecently been coming back to prominence despite the RAMpocalypse.
