These are used Extreme Networks WS-AP3825i commercial AP units reclaimed and recycled from a commercial install. They are in great condition as they spent their prior working lifetime mounted to ceilings in temperature controlled environments. These units have only one prior owner. They were installed new by a professional team, used for a few years, and then removed by a professional team, cleaned, flashed, tested, and stocked ready to be repurposed by you.
Important note: all of the units sold from this listing come flashed with OpenWRT 24 or later. The original manufacturers firmware is removed, so there is no subscription or additional hardware required for full functionality. This allows them to be used as routers or access points straight out of the box. They can be powered with power over ethernet (PoE 802.3af), or a standard 12V 2A DC adapter (neither are included).
Being reclaimed commercial hardware, these units are powerful and great for prosumers or hobbyists, small/medium size businesses, light commercial, or even average home users. No manuals are included, though extensive OpenWRT documentation exists online, should you find yourself needing help. An incredible opportunity exists for those that desire more power - the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless cards in these units are modular, fitted in mPCIe slots. Either or both can be removed and upgraded to enable faster or new wireless bands if desired, assuming firmware support is available in OpenWRT. For example, users have upgraded these units to use 6GHz modules like the AsiaRF AW7916-NPD. Similarly specced commercial WiFi 6E APs can easily run north of $1000.
