The Gefen Inc. DVI CAT-5 Extreme is a transmitter and matching receiver kit that allows a user to separate DVI or HDMI video components up to 200' (61 m)—far beyond the reach of standard desktop cables.
It uses inexpensive and common CAT5 network cable to connect the sender and receiver over great distances. The DVI CAT-5 Extreme supports all HD formats and does not degrade or downsample the resolution during transmission. It uses one CAT-5 cable for TMDS video and an optional CAT-5 cable for DDC/HDCP data, if it is required.
Sample applications include broadcast or security installations where a computer needs to be in a remote and/or secure location away from the displays.
