I got this GRID laptop a few years ago and tracked down a power cord. I was glad it powers on but either has no hard drive or needs replacement - I don't have a floppy to boot with but watch the video to see the results of POST. There is loud fan noise and likely needs some more maintenance or fan replacement and other components.
Most likely needs new hard disk and probably a battery replacement. Runs rough with fan noise but I am not prepared to open it up and do major internal repairs.
While I was able to get this laptop to power on it still needs work and probably should be considered an ongoing restoration project.
I am not an expert just an enthusiast - Pentium era is more my comfort zone but I enjoy learning but now I am in process of moving to a new place and letting of some of my retro pc projects go to lighten the amount of stuff to haul. Someone with more familiarity with GRID laptops can make good use of this for parts or a restoration project.
I am happy to answer questions and get more photos but even though this GRID 1660 powers on it needs more work and more components that I don't have - consider it as-is but with some signs of life - I think battery and hard disk can help a lot. Let me know if more experienced enthusiasts have suggestions or advice - with some guidance I can get a bootable floppy and check other functions.
