The HP 20 series ink cartridge is a supply for the DeskJet 610, 612 and 840 series, compact home inkjet printers from an earlier generation of the platform that continue to serve light document duty and legacy hardware installations. The cartridge carries its own thermal nozzle array within the housing, so every replacement brings fresh firing hardware and a starved or blocked head is corrected by fitting a new supply rather than servicing the printer itself. Installation is done with the carriage parked at the access position, where the protective strip lifts away from the nozzle plate, the unit drops into its cradle and pivots back until the latch snaps closed. A quick wipe of the electrical contacts with a dry lint free cloth prevents the misreads that cause a printer to reject a sound supply. The driver and toolbox utility on the host computer report remaining ink.
