Selling an original IBM ThinkPad 701CS vintage laptop with several period accessories and components. This is the well-known ThinkPad with the mechanically expanding “Butterfly” keyboard.
Everything in this listing is untested. I have not attempted to power on the laptop or the external CD-ROM drive due to visible corrosion from the original battery. This lot is being sold as-is for parts, repair, restoration, or collection.

• 33.6K Cellular Ready Fax Modem PCMCIA card
• Original IBM Ni-MH battery
Condition / important disclosures:
• Laptop, RAM, hard drive, both PCMCIA cards, and CD-ROM drive are all UNTESTED.
• The original IBM battery has leaked and has visible corrosion around its contacts. The battery should be considered nonfunctional and is included only for originality/completeness.
• Because of the battery corrosion, I have intentionally not attempted to power on the laptop. Internal electronic condition is unknown.
• The LCD panel appears physically intact with no obvious cracked glass, but display operation is untested.
• The Butterfly keyboard assembly is present and is shown deployed in the photos; electronic keyboard operation is untested.
• TrackPoint, keyboard, hard-drive carrier, memory, and PCMCIA bays are present as pictured.
• The 540 MB hard drive is untested. No claims are made regarding operation or the software/data that may be present on it.
• The Panasonic KXL-D740 is missing its PCMCIA/SCSI connection cable and power adapter. Those items are not included.
• No laptop AC adapter/power supply is included unless specifically shown in the photographs.
• There is cosmetic wear consistent with a computer of this age, including dust/dirt, scuffs, scratches, discoloration/residue, minor oxidation, and wear to the case. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact cosmetic condition.
This is a roughly 30-year-old collectible computer and should be purchased with the expectation that cleaning, repair, restoration, and/or replacement parts may be required.
