The Acutis Data IEC Kill Switch provides a convenient way to use the Commodore 64 Ultimate's built-in virtual IEC drive while keeping a real Commodore disk drive or other physical IEC device connected.
In some setups, a physical IEC device may appear to interfere with the C64 Ultimate's ability to see or use its virtual drives, even when that physical device is not actively being used. The exact cause is not always obvious, but the connected device may still be affecting the IEC bus in some way, acting like an electrical load or sink on the line.
This inline adapter adds a physical switch that can isolate the connected IEC device when it is not needed. It is a simple, practical way to reduce possible bus interference without repeatedly unplugging and reconnecting IEC cables.

Flip the switch one way to use the connected physical IEC device.
Flip the switch the other way to isolate that device and allow the C64 Ultimate's virtual drive to operate without that connected device affecting the bus.
Default Configuration
- The connected IEC device is isolated from the bus when the switch is turned off.
- The SRQ line remains connected.
- The switch is assembled in the configuration shown in the listing photos unless customization is requested.
Available Customization Options
The following options are available at no additional charge:
- Switch location
- Reset-line connectivity: isolated with the device or left connected
- SRQ-line connectivity: always connected by default and recommended for most users
- A larger plastic enclosure similar to the one used for our other IEC switches

SRQ is left connected by default because some modern IEC-compatible devices may use it for additional functionality.
