This is the factory 2TB configuration with two installed 1TB Hitachi hard drives. The NAS has been thoroughly tested, reinitialized, formatted and upgraded through LG’s New UI firmware path to firmware version 10124, the final New UI firmware LG lists for the N2R1/N2B1 series. Both installed hard drives currently report SMART Status: Normal, and both Volume 1 and Volume 2 report Status: Normal, as documented in the actual web-interface photographs. The system has been freshly reinitialized and both storage volumes formatted prior to sale. Default/reset administrator login is currently admin / admin; buyer should change the administrator password during setup.
The system is presently configured in individual-drive mode, giving the buyer two separate approximately 1TB-class volumes for close to 2TB total raw storage. Buyers who prefer drive-failure redundancy can reconfigure the unit for RAID 1 mirroring, where the same data is maintained across both drives so the system can tolerate the failure of one drive. The N2R1DD2 also supports other storage configurations including RAID 0, JBOD and individual volumes. It also includes Selective Mirror folder replication, allowing selected folders to be duplicated to another destination. RAID/mirroring protects against a physical drive failure but should not be considered a replacement for a separate external or off-site backup.
🌐 The LG NAS itself supports Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000 Base-T, making it suitable for direct connection to a modern Gigabit router or Ethernet switch. It can be administered through its graphical web-browser interface, and the photographs show the New UI operating normally, firmware 10124 installed and both hard-drive health screens. For direct Windows File Explorer network-share access, this older NAS uses legacy SMB/CIFS networking.
