TheIBM 1401is a second-generationcomputer.IBM announced it on October 5, 1959. It used small transistors instead of largevacuum tubes. It was thefirst computer I used and programmed in a computer language called Autocoder.

Ihave actually attended IBM classes on 5th avenue in New York City.

Ialways requested two IBM manuals. I keptone of each reference manual to add to my collection.
