This listing is for an NEC PC-9821 V13/S5C2. It has undergone various maintenance and is in working order. It features a built-in HDD (CF 2GB x 1 drive), a DVD/CD-ROM drive, and a newly replaced battery.
The unit has undergone an overhaul (electrolytic capacitor replacement, circuit board cleaning, etc.).

■Overhaul/Maintenance Details
• HDD (HDD converted to CF card)
I converted a brand new 2GB Transcend CF card into an HDD.
A clean installation of Microsoft Windows 98 has been performed for equipment functionality testing purposes.
*Please delete after confirming that it works.*
FDD
The unit has been disassembled and cleaned using an air blower and anhydrous ethanol, and its operation has been confirmed.
The heads have been cleaned using a wet head cleaner.
DVD/CD drive
Equipped with a Hitachi-LG DVD Super Multi Drive.
This device is connected to the IDE (ATAPI) network using a SATA-IDE conversion board.
This device has been confirmed to load using the drivers included as standard with Windows 98 and MS-DOS 6.2. (No special drivers were used; OS recognition and operation were confirmed with the standard drivers.)
It has been cleaned with an air blower and anhydrous ethanol, and its operation has been confirmed.
We have not tested the functionality of the writing media. (We do not have the necessary writing software.)
• Built-in battery
The battery for memory/date retention was replaced with a new one (of the same type).
Date retention confirmed.
• Power supply unit
Disassembly, cleaning, electrolytic capacitor replacement
The unit has been cleaned with an air blower and anhydrous ethanol, and its operation has been confirmed.
The electrolytic capacitors in the power supply unit, which are prone to heavy loads, have been replaced (with Japanese-made electrolytic capacitors), and the voltage has been measured and the unit's operation has been confirmed.
(Although there was no leakage from the electrolytic capacitors that were originally installed, they were replaced as a preventative measure.)

Circuit board removal and cleaning
The unit has been cleaned with an air blower and anhydrous ethanol, and its operation has been confirmed.
・ Cabinet
The rubber feet on the bottom of the casing were replaced with new ones.
