The active part of the ROM consists of 2 4x4 matrices of rectangular plastic structures, each of which contains rod-shaped ferrite structures. Each of these ferrite structures effectively serve as small transformers, with primary and secondary windings. A winding of wire is wrapped around one end of the rod, connecting to a sense amplifier. This winding is the secondary winding of the transformer. The other end of the rod has the primary windings. The Ferrite Core Memory Board was a part of the Drive ND1-20-27-xx or ND1-10-17-xx from onboard computer Orbit 10-TC-45 fitted on the long-range supersonic Tu-22 bomber.
