Q: Why is thisbattery so expensive?
A: Because lead acidbatteries that fit within the envelope of the Powerbook 100 are nolonger available it is necessary to use another type of battery, Ihave designed a circuit that makes this conversion possible. Thisbattery uses two Lithium Polymer cells and incorporates internal Lipocharging circuitry.
Q: Does thisreplacement battery come with an external cover?
A: The replacementbattery does not come with an external cover, the cover from theoriginal battery is utilized. Gently remove it by slightly opening upthe latch on the left side of the original battery with pliers oranother suitable tool, the original cover does not attach to the newbattery, instead it clicks onto the laptop to hold the battery intoplace.
Q: Are there anylimitations of the new design battery?
A: The new designbattery mostly operates like the original, the power meter has beenfound to be mostly accurate and will give ample warning of lowbattery and charge state. This battery can be charged by the laptopas well as the standalone charger. The charging process is automaticwhen the power adapter is connected, the only limitation is that whenthe battery is charged and one wishes to disconnect the power adapterthe laptop should be shut down to remove the power adapter. If thepower adapter is disconnected while the laptop is running no damagewill occur but the laptop will reboot.
