Function
The 1110-1-1 allows Ethernet data from a standard RJ45 network connection to be transmitted over a long-distance single-mode fiber-optic link. It is useful for connecting network equipment in separate buildings, extending Ethernet beyond normal copper cable distance limitations, or utilizing an existing single-strand fiber connection.
Because this is a single-fiber offeri converter, it transmits and receives on different wavelengths over the same strand of fiber. The 1110-1-1 transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1550 nm.
For a complete point-to-point fiber link, this unit is normally paired with a compatible opposite-wavelength converter, such as the Omnitron 1111-series, which transmits at 1550 nm and receives at 1310 nm.
