Offered is an early MOS Technology MCS6502 microprocessor, date code 0976, in its distinctive white ceramic package with gold-colored leads. This was acquired in a set of three from a retired engineer over 12 years ago. This was the oldest example, and I was told by the seller it had the ROR bug, although I have not confirmed it personally.
This is the type of early MOS 6502 associated with the Apple-1. Its 1976 date code and white ceramic package make it an appealing piece for an Apple-1-era collection, restoration, or replica project.
The processor was tested and working prior to storage. After testing, it was placed in a chip carrier, and sealed in a climate controlled vault in my home lab. Because of its age and the potential for damage during handling or installation, it is sold as-is.
All legs are in excellent condition. There is minor corrosion on the metal lid, as shown in the photographs. Images were taken in bright light, on very white paper, to emphasize details in the surface and legs. This chip was intentionally not cleaned in any way to preserve the patina, and the high contrast in some of the photos make it look "dirtier" than it does in person, however I wanted to emphasize the surface for buyer review.I am happy to take additional photos, including microscope, if requested.
Please examine the photos carefully for the markings and condition; the chip pictured is the exact item you will receive. The other two examples have already been sold, this is the last one in my collection.Chip will be very well packed, in static safe materials and a chip carrier to protect the legs.
