The case has real heft to it, mostly because of the metal hinge and stand support. That extra weight is noticeable, but it also gives the whole thing a steady, planted feel when the iPad is attached. It does not feel flimsy or wobbly on a desk, which is important for a floating-style keyboard case.
Protection is one of the strongest parts of this case. It goes far beyond a thin cover. Both sides of the tablet get extra coverage, and the removable protective case gives the iPad a much more secure feeling when it is detached from the keyboard. This is the kind of case that makes the iPad feel ready for a backpack, a couch, a kitchen counter, or a mildly chaotic human household.
The keyboard itself is decent and very usable. The keys feel fine for everyday typing, email, notes, and light work. The backlight is useful, though the lighting is not perfectly even. On my unit, the top area of the keyboard is brighter than the lower area, so it has a bit of a “stage lighting from above” effect. It still does the job, just not with perfect uniformity.
One thing I do miss is a function-key lock. For special functions, I have to press Fn plus the shortcut key instead of simply tapping the function row directly. That is not a dealbreaker, but it does add a tiny bit of friction when adjusting things like brightness or volume.
The built-in touchpad is a big win. With the trackpad, the iPad becomes almost touchscreen-free for most normal use. I would say I can do about 95% of my regular navigation without reaching up and tapping the screen. That makes the setup feel much closer to a compact laptop and much less like a tablet awkwardly pretending to be one.
In the end, this is a sturdy, protective, functional keyboard case with a useful touchpad and a personality that refuses to whisper. It adds weight, but also adds stability and serious protection. I've been through more iPad keyboard cases than I care to count. Either the typing experience felt like hammering on a toy, or the thing added so much weight that I might as well have packed a laptop. When the ZYNTHRALIX came through the Vine program, I went in with measured expectations. My iPad Air gets real use throughout the week, mostly drafting documents, managing emails, video calls, and occasional media consumption. I needed something that could actually hold up to that kind of daily rotation, not something that would be in a drawer by month two.
Right out of the box, the build quality was the first thing I noticed. The semi-silicone leather exterior has a premium, almost matte feel to it, and mine has already survived a coffee near-miss with nothing more than a quick wipe. Setup was painless, Bluetooth paired within about two minutes, and I was typing within five. The two-piece design, where the iPad snaps into a protective magnetic case that then connects with the keyboard, is genuinely well thought out. The keyboard on its own is solid, the keys have a satisfying depth to them, and during extended writing sessions I was not fighting the layout or constantly correcting errors. The trackpad surprised me most, it is responsive enough that I found myself barely touching the screen at all, which is exactly the laptop-replacement feel I was after. The 11-color backlight is a legitimate feature too, not just a gimmick. I found myself keeping it on a low amber setting during evening work, which was easier on the eyes than I expected.
That said, there are a few honest trade-offs worth knowing. The portrait mode is fine for browsing and reading, but the screen angle has a fairly narrow range of adjustment, so if you like tilting the display back further than about 120 degrees you may find it slightly limiting. The keyboard also needs its own charging since it does not draw power from the iPad, which means two things to keep juiced instead of one. It is not a dealbreaker, but it is an adjustment if you are coming from an integrated solution.Search term:lighting is not perfectly even across the keyboard, with the upper portion of the keys getting slightly more illumination than the bottom row. Minor, but worth mentioning.Overall, this is a genuinely capable keyboard case that outperforms what most people would reasonably expect at this tier. If you are a writer, remote worker, student, or someone who wants their iPad to carry laptop-level productivity without the weight of an actual laptop, this setup delivers. The protection is solid, the trackpad is a real differentiator, and the build feels like something that will last. Anyone who has been disappointed by cheaper keyboard cases in the past will likely be pleasantly surprised by how well this one holds up to actual daily use.
