Offering our extremely rare collector-grade vintage HP Blackbird 002 gaming PC. Here's the story: Looking for a path into the lucrative gaming market, this legendary beast was a very expensive collaboration between Hewlett-Packard and VooDoo Computers of Canada. Selecting a few options on one of these such as liquid cooled graphics cards or additional storage drives could easily drive the cost north of $7,000+ and that was in 2008!
We're the original and only owners of this unique computer having purchased it new at Micro Center in St. Davids, PA. What makes this particular one so uncommon and much more desirable of the approximately 500 or so built, is we retained all the original packaging materials (box, manual, inserts, etc.) and have never encountered another one out there in the wild with the same level of completeness and originality. It's entirely possible this could be the only one left in existence with this level of completeness. Most were gamed to death, hacked up, or heavily tweaked and modified with upgrades. Not this one. If we might provide an automotive analogy, this is a 1971 Hemi 'Cuda with low mileage, bone stock, always garage kept, and you're purchasing it from the original owner!The entire chassis of the Blackbird is formed from cast aluminum, weighs about 75 lbs. and will likely last several lifetimes. It also features tons of advanced features for the time, and even by todays standards. Yes, the hardware is certainly dated at this point since computer technology moves so quickly, but for collectors of vintage computers this will be a tough one to beat. We make NO assertions whatsoever as to the future reliability or functionality of the 15+ year old hardware, but it is currently running (see images) and was top-of-the-line at the time. Most importantly, it's 100% all original and untouched. Original OS was Windows Vista and the COA decal is still attached inside. We successfully ran XP Pro, Vista, and our all-time favorite, Windows 7 Pro on this machine with superb results. Current drive is a 500GB HDD running 7-Pro as seen in the provided photos. What an amazing machine to set up for Retro-emulation or other types of vintage gaming!Never modified from original factory HP/VooDoo specs which include: EVGA motherboard, liquid-cooled Intel Core-2 Quad Q9450 CPU, dual Nvidia GeForce 9800GT graphics cards running in SLI with quad-DVI outputs. 4GB Corsair Dominator RAM (a massive amount at the time), five hot-swappable hard drive bays, advanced slot loading optical drive, hidden multicard reader and additional ports, completely modular 900w power supply, easy component access through a removable side door, etc. You get the drift. We never even used it for games (we're old console gamers), mostly just video/photo editing and surfing. Definitely never pushed it anywhere near its true capabilities. It served very well for many years but has lately just been stored in a climate controlled environment, so we've decided to offer it just once to an astute buyer who perhaps missed the opportunity to purchase one new all those years ago, or a savvy collector of ultra-cool vintage hardware.
We feel the asking price is quite reasonable (around 1/3 of the cost new) in light of the overall condition (virtually devoid of scratches/bumps/bruises,etc.) and completeness of the system. The only thing NOT included is the original RAZR mouse which is long gone. We do currently have the keyboard listed separately but if the system sells first it will be included.Worth mentioning: For someone attempting to rebuild or restore one of these 002's, or are simply curious about their history, the provided high resolution images may be of additional value as they highlight exactly how one of these came from the factory.
Kindly view our excellent response rating with the community built over 25+ years (since 1999!) and purchase with confidence. We took the photos and what you see here is exactly what you'll get. Unfortunately due to the size and weight (massive box, around 100lbs.) we're listing this monster as 'LOCAL PICKUP ONLY' as shipping would be extremely cost prohibitive and we'd be highly concerned about damage in transit considering the way all the major shippers treat fragile packages.
