Mine come with new and refreshed versions of their old operating systems, and come loaded with lots of fun games and useful software.I also exhaustively clean my systems by completely disassembling them and cleaning all interior surfaces including power supplies and heat assemblies. Most sellers you see on this site are selling dirty, dust-filled estate sale finds and retired business machines they have put minimal to no effort into. Usually using my prices as a guide for what they should charge.I am the first person to sell custom made and rebuilt restored legacy Windows computers on . And I consider mine to be the best.I have been building PCs for the last 24 years and have built over 400 computers in my career. I used computers like these back when they were new and and have intimate knowledge and experience of how they work.This computer:Is one of these great rugged Dell enthusiast laptops from the early 2000's. This one is a gaming model equipped with the Nvidia GeForce4 440go GPU.This laptop normally does not support Windows 98 but I was able to get it ported with full functionality. It's using a custom modified GPU driver.What I did do the computer:-BIOS updated to final version.
-Completely disassembled and cleaned.
-Exhaust fans cleaned and bearings oiled.
-RAM upgrade.
-CD-ROM replaced with much newer model from 2007.
-Backport to Windows 98 SE Plus! with drivers for all critical hardware.
-Loaded with games.NOTES:
-I was not able to get a 98 driver for the 56k modem. So that is not installed.
-Space is a little tight on this HDD with my full 98 game library installed. Simply delete data from games you don't want to gain room.
-No battery is included. These are almost impossible to find.
Running Windows 98 SE with the Plus! 98 addition. Mainly cosmetic items from the plus package are installed such as desktop themes and screensavers. Plus also included several now-redundant programs such as mcafee antivirus which I have NOT installed. Includes Peanuts, Doonesbury, Cathy themes etc.My Win98 PCs are also upgraded with the USB driver system from Windows Millennium, which allows them to access USB storage drives like a modern PC. CDs were not made to last for decades and they decay and become less readable over time. This goes double for floppy disks. Many if not all of the computer games from the 90's and 00's are freely available on the internet archive. Mounting CD images is a much better and more reliable way to install old games.SIMS 2 NOTE: This game does not run well on any computer. I've had several of my powerful XP machines returned over the years because of poor performance in Sims 2. This is simply a poorly programmed game with bad optimization that will run with bad framerates on literally any computer. I will not support or help you troubleshoot this kind of use, and my XP machines may not be returned due to internet-related issues, as this is something I am explicitly telling you not to do with my product. Windows XP has not received a security update in OVER A DECADE and there is no reliable anti-virus software available for it. There is no such thing as a "safe" website. Steam and any online games or services you hope to play on XP will not work, Internet Explorer does not work for internet browsing anymore. IT WILL NOT NOT ASSUME ANYTHING IS INCLUDED THAT IS NOT PICTURED. IF IT IS NOT PICTURED.
