AI OverviewCreative Labs CT7240 PC-DVD Encore DXR3 PCI MPEG Video Decoder Card
The Creative Labs CT7240 is a vintage hardware DVD and MPEG-2 decoder card released as part of the PC-DVD Encore DXR3 kit. What It Is & What It Does

• Core Function: It is a hardware-accelerated MPEG-2 and DVD playback decoder card for PCs. In the late 1990s, early Pentium and Celeron processors were not fast enough to smoothly decode full-screen MPEG-2 video (DVDs) on their own, so cards like this offloaded the task from the CPU. [1, 2]
• Alternative Names: It is also known as a rebadged Sigma Designs Hollywood Plus or DXR3 board. [1]
• Host Interface: It plugs into a standard PCI slot on a desktop motherboard. [1, 2]
• Connections: It typically features VGA input/output passthrough (allowing you to route your primary graphics card signal through the decoder), S-Video and composite video TV outputs, and S/PDIF or line-level audio outputs. [1, 2]
