Your intrepid chip trader here with a deceptively simple question. What's in a chip? ... Well, lots really. Sand for one. The maker for two. The motive for three. Social values for four. Complex ethics for five. Semiconductors, i.e. "computer chips, et.al" have become, good or bad, the ubiquitous building blocks for modern human endeavors and you can learn a lot by studying their use. Think about it. You don't just "use" a semiconductor or more commonly the device it drives; you form a relationship with it and by extension its creator. Increasingly that creator is ever present as technologies are rented not purchased, centralized not distributed, invasive not walled in, ubiquitous not specialized. Love it. Hate it. Worship it or (try to) avoid it. And different people are likely to do any of these given the same opportunity. Technology is always a trade off and its uses, like most things, can be malignant or benign but rarely neutral. While technology is invariably associated with "efficiency" the question is efficiency for whom? While "user" equipment becomes more and more "dumbed down" provider topologies become more complex and far reaching. Tool and master can become confused. Have computers generally simplified people's lives or complicated them? Privacy and surveillance become core issues as generations increasingly trade personal autonomy for convenience. Human augmentation with semiconductors is already here. AI and an "internet of things" usher in all manner of complex ethical questions that far lag the exponent advances made. WWIII may just as well be decided by configurations of semiconductors that make the intelligence possible as by humans with a conscience and a quivering finger. The red button may prove obsolete. Moore's law is still holding and quantum based computing and genetic hard drives are on the horizon. Semiconductors are the underwriters of all these things and yet their capability and consequence are understood or contemplated by relatively few. Outside of tech circles discussed by even fewer. Does society face these challenges or simply accept them? Most would be surprised, even alarmed, at the advances already made where the bleeding edges of technology exceed the human scope of change. Yes, semiconductors are at the heart of it. And that's reason enough to consider, what's in a chip?

  • We ship via a variety of services. Typically larger items are shipped Ground via UPS or Fed-EX but some are now traveling USPS with their new ground service. International means may vary but most of our items are now shipped internationally via the Global Shipping Program. According to the policies of that program, once goods are accepted at the U.S. hub (goods are inspected), we are out of the loop and all subsequent transport and claims for damage, loss, etc. are soley 's responsibility.
  • We utilize parcel tracking on all services. Tracking is uploaded at the time of item processing. We utilize freight insurance on applicable items.
  • We expertly pack and ship all items to arrive safely at their destination. However, even with such care, occasionally damage can occur due to excessive handling by the carrier. In such cases you will have two options, 1) keep the item if the damage was minor and you are happy doing so, or 2) return the item to us based on a call tag (we cover return shipping in this event). You may need to hold the item for the carrier to perform a damage inspection; we will give instructions for this. You will also need to provide us with photos and a description of the damage. Under no circumstances can we discount items after a sale.
  • Items will usually be shipped on the same or next business day of receiving full cleared payment but may take up to two business days.
  • Handling Charges. While we do our utmost to keep shipping charges low (better for us and you), due to the nature of many of the products we sell proper packing materials and significant labor is a must to ensure a safe journey. We therefore build in some charges to cover this as we believe that overall customers would prefer to receive their hard won treasures in perfect condition rather than risk poor packing due to artificially low shipping charges.
Payment Policy

Unpaid items will generate an unpaid case report. We reserve the right to re-list an item after the initial 72 hours and to deny payments after that time frame if we have re-listed the item(s).
  • International buyers please wait for an invoice before making payment. All customs, duties, and any other related fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer / importer. In some cases we may receive a customs bill after the shipment. This will generate an additional invoice to the buyer after the original transaction date that will include a scanned copy of the carrier (customs) invoice showing the original tracking information and associated charges. We try to avoid this but in some jurisdictions and situations, especially on certain pieces where duties may have to be estimated, its not always possible and beyond our control.
