Rare vintage Hyosung Computer Maxar 386 desktop computer, dating from approximately 1987The computer appears substantially complete and includes its original-style internal components and expansion cards shown in the photographs.Visible components and features include:

• Astec AA14220 200-watt power supply, dated 07/87
• Seagate ST-251 MLC-1 hard drive
• VGA-compatible 15-pin video output
• Five-pin DIN AT keyboard connection
• Serial and parallel ports
• Multiple full-length expansion cards
• Original Maxar 386 front housing and badgeTESTING PERFORMED:
The computer was connected to a known-working VGA monitor and five-pin AT keyboard.With the original Seagate hard drive’s power connector DISCONNECTED:
• Computer powered on
• Power-supply fan operated normally
• Front green indicator illuminated
• Video output displayed the BIOS/POST screen
• Memory/POST activity appeared on the monitor
• Keyboard was recognized
• Pressing F1 successfully continued past the BIOS prompt
• The expected disk-related boot error appeared because the hard drive was not powered
• Computer remained powered and displayed normally for approximately three minutes
• No smoke, burning smell, or abnormal power-supply noise was observedIMPORTANT HARD-DRIVE DISCLOSURE:
During a separate test, the original Seagate ST-251 hard drive’s power connector was reconnected. The computer reached the BIOS screen but then completely powered off before F1 could be pressed. The external monitor remained powered.The hard drive was disconnected again, after which the computer operated normally for three minutes.No additional powered testing of the hard drive was performed. The shutdown could be caused by the hard drive drawing excessive current, a hard-drive fault, or the original power supply becoming unstable under the drive’s startup load. The exact cause has not been diagnosed.The Seagate hard drive remains included but should be considered untested/possibly defective. Its power connector will be left disconnected for safety.This computer has not been tested for:
• Booting from the hard drive
• Floppy-drive operation
• Every expansion card or rear port
• Extended operation
• Complete memory diagnostics
