I used this as a consultant in the 80s and was amazed at how ahead of everything else this was. I see no copies of this on sale anywhere. Savvy PC, developed by Excalibur Technologies in the 1980s, was an innovative software application that combined elements of artificial intelligence with database management. Marketed as "The Artificial Intelligence Database," it aimed to provide users with a more intuitive and natural way to interact with and manage data on personal computers. Key Features: Natural Language Processing (NLP): Savvy PC incorporated NLP capabilities, allowing users to interact with the database using conversational English commands. This feature was designed to make data retrieval and manipulation more accessible to users without formal programming knowledge. Pattern Recognition: The software utilized pattern-recognition schemes to interpret user inputs and execute appropriate database operations, enhancing its ability to understand and process natural language queries. Relational Database Functionality: Savvy PC functioned as a relational database management system, enabling users to store, organize, and retrieve data efficiently. User-Friendly Interface: Designed with non-technical users in mind, Savvy PC offered an interface that simplified complex database interactions, reducing the learning curve typically associated with database software of that era.
Historical Context: During the 1980s, the integration of AI into personal computing was a burgeoning field. Savvy PC represented an early attempt to democratize access to AI-powered tools, bringing sophisticated data management capabilities to a broader audience. While it may not have achieved widespread adoption, its approach to combining NLP with database management was a precursor to later developments in user-friendly data interaction interfaces.
