Hi, this is an listing for a Creative Labs Ziio 7" 8GB Android tablet. These are relatively rare early Android 2.3 devices that were difficult to find even when they came out. This is a multiple item listing but all the tablets I have for sale are in superb unused condition and still have the plastic wrap on the screen. They have a decent battery life but have not been thoroughly tested (yet), but if I find an app for testing, i'll update this information. One sat for idle after a day and a half and still had a very good charge.
Here is the text converted into a concise bullet point list of features:
Creative Labs Ziio 7" 8GB Android Tablet
- Condition: Superb unused condition; screen still has plastic wrap
- Display: 7-inch resistive touchscreen - works far better than old resistive touch displays but not multi-touch.
- Storage: 8GB internal + SD card slot for expansion
- RAM: 512MB
- Processor: 1GHz single-core ARM9 (32-bit) by ZiiLabs (Creative Labs subsidiary); "StemCell" coprocessor architecture with many small compute cores
- OS: Android 2.2/2.3 (Gingerbread era)
- Battery: Good idle life (held charge well after 1.5 days)
- Audio: Remarkable headphone quality; single mono speaker with good clarity and decent volume but nowhere near as good as modern tablets & smartphones. Headphone supports several audio anhancement features from Creative's X-Fi products.
- App Support: No Google Play Store; sideloading possible for apps targeting Android 2.3 and below
- Notes: Rare early Android device; influenced future heterogeneous computing designs in modern smartphones
There was quite a bit of hype about the "StemCell" coprocessor inside these tablets and while it wasn't a massive seller (where could you even find these?!? Never saw them on store shelves) it is likely it pushed Android SoC designers toward heterogeneous computing (dedicated optimized compute cores for various specific tasks) that continue to this day in virtually all smartphones, notiably the many Hexagon DSPs in most smartphones using Qualcomm SoCs and of course iPhones and now Apple Silicon Macs.
This is a very dated Android tablet running Android 2.2, with a mediocre screen and resistive touch sensing. It's running a 1GHz single-core ARM9 (32-bit) that is actually much snappier than one would expect. It does not have Android Play Store on it. It's certainly possible to sideload apps as long as they target Android 2.3 and below. There are a handful of apps that will sideload like TinyMusic. The screen is old resistive touch technology but is very responsive compared to what I remember resistive touch was like on Archos' early Android media tablets.
Audio quality on these tablets is pretty remarkable if you use headphones. There's only one speaker on the tablet so no stereo speakers but the one speaker doesn't sound too bad. Not a whole lot of bass but pretty good clarity at decent volume.
I have a bunch of these tablets after wanting to find a good one for many years, don't really need so many. On the lookout for the ZiiSDK.
Cheers and thanks for looking
