Sonnet Crescendo G3/L2 processor upgrade for compatible vintage Power Macintosh systems.
This is the 300 MHz PowerPC G3 version with 1 MB backside cache, marked BG3-300-1-KIT-03.
I personally used this card in my Power Macintosh 6500, paired with a 3dfx Voodoo3 3000 PCI, and it made one heck of a classic Mac gaming setup. The card was working when removed and has been stored in an anti-static bag since.
I no longer have a complete compatible system available to retest it, so I’m listing it as currently untested. The BG3 version of the Sonnet Crescendo/L2 G3 is compatible with several Power Macintosh models, including the Power Macintosh 5400, 5500, 6400, 6500 and Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh (TAM). Please verify compatibility with your specific system before purchase.
Sonnet designed these cards to install in the computer's L2 cache slot.
