This lets you connect two DisplayPort monitors from a single DisplayPort output using MST / Multi-Stream Transport. Good for a desktop, workstation, home office, trading setup, coding setup, or multi-monitor productivity setup.I originally bought it to help organize my monitors, but never ended up using it and just put it in storage for a few years

Important: this is DisplayPort to DisplayPort only. It is not for HDMI and is not for macOS. Your computer / graphics card also needs to support DisplayPort MST.
