For sale is a SuperMac Spectrum/24 Series III NuBus 24-bit graphics accelerator card for vintage Apple Macintosh systems.
This example includes the optional daughter/cache (piggyback) acceleration card, which was not present on many base units and significantly improves performance.
The card has been fully tested in a Macintosh IIci running System 7.1.1 with SuperVideo 2.4.9 installed. Hardware acceleration and 24-bit color operation were tested successfully at multiple resolutions, including:
- 640 × 480 up to 24-bit color
- 832 × 624 up to 24-bit color
- 1024 × 768 at 75 Hz up to 24-bit color
The Spectrum/24 Series III is compatible with many 680x0 NuBus Macintosh systems with appropriate drivers and software configuration. As with many accelerated NuBus graphics cards, compatibility may vary depending on system software version, extensions, accelerator cards, cache settings, and monitor configuration. Later Mac OS versions and certain extension combinations may produce acceleration-related redraw artifacts or other driver compatibility issues.
Cosmetic condition is very good overall. The PCB is clean and the NuBus connector is in excellent shape. The metal bracket shows normal age-related wear. Please review photos carefully for exact cosmetic condition and included items.
