It works as a standard NIC to move data in and out of the ProxySG. It provides a hardware failover mechanism in case of a power loss to or hardware or software failure in the ProxySG. In the event of any of the above, the Pass-Through Card physically bypasses Ethernet traffic around the ProxySG. The Pass-Through Card eliminates the need for a router or layer-4 switch when the ProxySG is configured for transparent proxy by working with layer-4 redirection software in the SGOS operating system.
