PLEASE READ — HIGH POWER-ON HOURS
This drive has 34,030 power-on hours (roughly 3.9 years of continuous runtime). That number is stated up front so there are no surprises after delivery. Worth putting in context: it has only 264 power cycles, 280 start/stops and 499 load/unload cycles. It sat in one machine, powered on continuously, and almost never spun down or parked its heads — which is the gentlest duty cycle a mechanical drive can have. Start/stop and head-parking cycles are what physically wear a drive out, and by that measure this one is barely used. All the same, it is a high-hours drive and it is priced accordingly. Buy it with that understood.

CMR, NOT SMR
The DT01ACA family is conventional (CMR) recording. This is confirmed two ways: Toshiba does not list this series as shingled, and the CrystalDiskInfo Features line in the photo reads S.M.A.R.T., APM, NCQ, GPL with no TRIM — TRIM advertised on a spinning disk is the tell for drive-managed SMR, and it is absent here. CMR means no write-amplification stall under sustained writes, so this drive is fine for RAID, NAS and ZFS use.
ABOUT THE BUFFER SIZE IN THE SCREENSHOT
CrystalDiskInfo reports Buffer Size 23652 KB while Toshiba's published specification for this model is 32 MB. That difference is normal and is not a fault: the firmware reserves part of the cache for its own use and reports only the user-addressable portion. Mentioned here so nobody has to wonder about it.
HP OEM PULL — STANDARD SATA, NO VENDOR LOCK
This drive carries an HP part number (HP P/N 661697-001) alongside the Toshiba label, so it originally shipped inside an HP system. It is a standard SATA drive with no vendor lock or proprietary firmware — it will work in any desktop, server, NAS or SATA controller, not just HP hardware.
DATA
The drive has been cleared — all partitions and the partition table were removed, and it was verified afterwards that zero partitions remain. It will arrive unallocated and ready for you to initialize and format. To be precise about what that means: this was a fast clear operation, not a multi-pass secure erase.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE
One (1) bare 3.5" hard drive, exactly as pictured. No cables, no mounting screws, no adapters, no software and no retail packaging are included.
SHIPPING
Free shipping via USPS Ground Advantage. The drive ships in an anti-static bag inside a padded box, and it is photographed with its serial number visible immediately before packing.
