Selling a working Toshiba Satellite Pro 400CDT. This is a vintage system with a 75mhz Pentium and 16MB RAM. The screen is a 10.4” 640x480 active matrix TFT display. It also has an ESS688 sound chip with a real OPL3 synthesizer. This is a rare, great hardware combo for early to mid 90s PC games. The machine is able to boot to Windows 95 and run software / games fine. Screen is pretty bright for its age and audio is clear. The CD-ROM drive makes noises but is unable to read discs currently - I have not tried doing any cleaning or etc, so not sure what the problem is. I also noticed the status lights do not work. The keyboard and pointing stick/mouse buttons work well.
A couple of things to note about the machine that are generally true for any laptops of this vintage: the CMOS/BIOS battery is dead, so you may need to restart one or two times from a cold start to get things going. Also, the hard drive works, but can be prone to the head getting stuck (I had to remove the drive and give it a tap on its side to unstick it). Also, there is a whine during cold start from what I believe may be a capacitor in the lcd inverter board (sound seems to go away after a few minutes). If you’re familiar with vintage laptops/computers, you already know about these things, but I just wanted to make things clear for the potential buyer.
