Upgraded Dell Precision 5570, Intel.12th gen i7-12700H @2.6(or 2.3?)GHz nom/4.7GHz turbo, Intel vPro & H-series for business/heavy compute/graphics work & enterprise/remoted IT security, 14cores/20threads, 32GB DDR5(?) memory, 512GB PCIe NVMe SSDrive for business perf.GPU may include 3 options: dedicated nVidia RTX A1000(4GB) or A2000(8GB) [both are "Ampere" clasd] or integrated Intel Iris.Xe and likewise display also avail in 2, not just one, options - SEE SPECs TABLE ABOVE & SEE WARNING BELOW !Also, Touch or Non-Touch screen option I need to open box & verify).But output to external display via HDMI(?)/DisplayPort/ThunderBolt ports is (significantly)higher.
WARNING about (2) Display & (3) Graphics specs shown above:At this moment you may wonder why ambiguity i.e why not one but two or three differing specs for display & for graphics are shown - how would you (buyer) know what you're getting ?? Simple - read below and afew days from today these 2 groups of specs will be narrowed to definite ones and hence this entire paragraph/"Warning" will.be deleted.
OK, reason is:Boxes are sealed in warehouse & I won't have access until couple days from today. Titles say "Upgraded Dell Precision 5570 i7 12700H 512GB 32GB.... Etc.etc [most specs are listed OK], but no word specifically WHICH Display & WHICH Graphics cards are in !, turns out Dell Precision 5570 was issued w/3+3 options of each, nVidia NVIDIA RTX A1000 (4 GB GDDR6), NVIDIA RTX A2000 (8 GB GDDR6) [both are "Ampere" architecture) & surprisingly for me as a design Engineer here this Precision model was available even w/just integrated Intel IrisXe graphics (no nVidia) whereas almost all high-perf Precision 5570's supposed to have dedicated GPU - by definition !!There's also 4K/UHD+ TouchScreen & FHD+ nontouch options for display. I can't take a risk and say "nVidia" or "4K display" merely by the fact a typical Dell Precision 5570 for Engineers here "supposed" to have it - what if it doesn't ?, then I'd become a "liar" & risk account reputation. So for today I specified multiple/all options of (3) Graohics & (2) Displays. So, in afew dsys I'll be at warehouse, open boxes, power laptops On, and enter BIOS/UEFI & Hardware Manager & OS.Windows System Info - to verify EXACTLY WHICH options are in these units. Then you'll no longer see multiples, but will see just one spec for Grsohics & one spec for Display.But what we did today is a possible gift for you:I temp set the price decently low EVEN if someone buys these items today/or anytime BEFORE Iam able to determine Graphics & Display specs and what you'll get turns out tobe lower spec display (FHD+, not 4K UHD+) & lower graphics (integ Intel IrisXe, not nVidia) - price is still decent for such Precision 5570s series of Dell's w/32GB memory & 512G PCIe NVMe SSDrive, despite lower option for graph/didp. HOWEVER if what you receive turns out tobe BETTER i.e 4K UHD+ Touchscreen &/or nVidia RTX A1000 (4 GB GDDR6)/A2000 (8GB) you'll be a massive winner - b/c obviously, I won't complain or ask for "extra payment, etc b/c item is better than described" - so no worries, you just keep better options graph/disp.Interestingly, even tho Iam a seller in this case, in y2012 something similar happened to me when I bought an HP EliteBook for Engineering/CAD 3D design work, I "thought" Iam buying a specific ATI (now acquired by AMD corp) FirePro graphics, but upon arrival discovered a twice better graphics card !, explanation from HP was they ran out of lower spec card & installed upgraded spec for Free to prevent delay in assembly/production. The bad news for those who wait for me to update listing is if in afew days I open bkxes & discover 4K UHD+ TouchScreen &/or nVidia graphics in these inits - I'll obviously & definitely Increase price of this listing & it's likely be not a small increase but prob +$170 to+300... we'll see.To summarize:Even w/integrated Intel IrisXe i.e if nVidia isn't present, I humbly believe price for this,Dell Precision is low enough, anyway, and if it turns out to have 4K TouchScreen &/or nVidia GPU price asking today is probably too low !So make your choice for now, but around midweek I'll remove ambiguity, delete this paragraph/"Warning", and either keep or increase 15.6" Mobile Workstation built for professional/business workloads e.g but not limited.to:Heavy compute tasks & design, if dedicated GPU nVidia is present:Engineering & CAD 3D/2D & 3D rendering, Graphics Design, Gaming, Etc.etc; even if only integrated graphics Intel IrisXe present Dell Precisions are still far more capable for reliable/professional/business use than other series within Dell (itself) & than other computer brands' consumer-grade series. As such, Dell Precisions are in the same "pro" category as Lenovo ThinkPad P-series, HP ZBooks, Etc mobile Workstations. Despite compute & graphics power, this one is light (for its specs) - barely over 4Lbs, whereas typical Workstation is often 5.5-6-7Lbs
Weight = starting at approx 4.06-4.25 lbs (not bad for a pro workstation w/86Whr battery, supposed tobe heavy [5.5-6 lbs])Ports & Connectivity and special Features: see specs table aboveDurable construction & strong Security i.e a Business/Enterprise (not mass.market/not Consumer) machine, orig priced $2,300-2,900-$3,000+ depending on Graphics, Display, Memory, Storage, Processor options BEFORE Inflation (so who knows how high would be after inflation), I know it means little for a used model (w/12th gen Intel i7) but useful to understand how Precision series (for Business) stand apart from cheaper/less reliable/less etc Consumer (Mass.market) products e.g Dell Latitude, etc cr*p.HP & Lenovo similarly differentiate between Business & Creative/Engineering/Scientific & cheaper Consumer productlines, I only use Engineering-optimized ones (HP ZBooks, Dell Precision, Lenovo ThinkPad P-series Workstations & System.76).OS = Windows.11 Pro installed, but this Precision was also certified for LinuX (I think at least Ubuntu, but might be also RHEL, SuSE, Etc.etc)
Software:No commercial soft beyond usual/stock OS Windows.11.Pro & basic utilities - b/c if we left licensed soft e.g Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoDesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCad, Keydight ADS, Cadence AWR... you name it (engineer here), Etc.etc on a unit being sold AND you don't buy those licenses (many $1,000's !) it'd be software piracy/violation of seller's account.However, just to help you get some work done immediately, before installing your/own soft, we added some freebies, e.g but Not limited.toLibreOffice for typing/spreadsheets/presentations (I think its files ar compatible w/MS.Office ?)Of course OS Windows.11.Pro & WebBrowser Chrome are always expected/present (you can re.add Edge browser, MS.Iffice & Outlook, Adobe, whatever we had removed). There's also darn Windows Defender & Malwarebytes protections utilities installed but that's our IT team "forced handywork", I personally view these as annoying bog-down/slow-down factor on system & use different methods of protection on my/own computersTheres also Glary Utilities as Free Version, I've no clue about - maybe you'll uninstall it.You MUST go thru all softwares & set settings & uninstall bloatware that got installed when corporate off-leasd machines are reset to Refurb/Selling, to reduce redundant soft to maximize hard performance.
Pro's:CPU & GPU (if nVidia present) can handle demanding workloads.Thunderbolt 4 support.Fast SSD optimized for Enterprise use.Upgradeable memory (to 64GB) & SSDrive (to 8TB ?) (unlike ultraportables where memory is soldered/unupgradeable by user)Minimal thermal throttling under load.Low fan noise for comfort/productivity (unlike some noisy Gaming class/Workstation power laptops).Personally for me as an Engineer the shocker is these Precision 5570's EVEN model option w/o nVidia GPU RTX A1000/A2000 i.e the one having just Intel Iris.Xe outputs nice graphics onto external display capable of running small to medium 3D assemblies in AutoDesk Inventor/SolidWorks, you'd expect integrated graphics Iris.Xe to "crap off" but no, it somehow works even if slow, tho forget abt large assemblies & physics simulations. And of course if you get this Precision 5570 w/ dedicated GPU nVidia RTX A1000/A2000 you'll be fine w/huge assemblies & 3D Rendering incl Ray.Tracing & Physics simulations & AI workloads.This professionalism was always a hallmark of Dell's 2 productlines - XPS & Precision, unlike cheap Latitude, etc series.Cons:Sustained (very)heavy workloads or gaming may make built-in keyboard warm (if not hot in summer, if no Air.cond (tho in my experience w/Lenovo ThinkPad P-series & likewise can.Dell, i use external keyboard (& OLED monitor) anyway and Air.cobd offices).Several years old model - remember batteries unlike all/other hardware "may" age i.e gradually lose max.capacity. However we don't examine batteries "in depth" - it just works, decently. In the worst case spare NEW battery is cheap on , but current one is probably still good, anyway.By.the.way:Charger plugs thru standard USB.C "PowerDelivery" port in this model - means you can add any/generic (i.e CHEAP) Extra battery/powerbank w/USB.C type connector when travel very long.times away from ACpower &/or Solar Power.Most people don't care, but I mention b/c I was sent by employer several times to seriously remote/wilderness locations w/another (not this) Dell Precision & USB.C connected extra battery & Solar thing proved tobe useful===========
