When it powers on, the print head situates to the left side.To do self test, hold LF while turning on power. Keep holding LF. The printer head will situate to the correct left positionthen it will start printing. Once it starts printing let go of the LF button. To stop printing at any time, turn the power off.
Paper has to be manually loaded till edge is above printer head. Then you can use the hand roller. It is like the roller bar is to smooth to catch the paper.Sometimes the paper out light comes on and the printer will stop. The little white plastic tab where the paper loads moves like it should. I do not know why it sometimes does not recognize paper loaded.Did not try to remove the ribbon cartridge at all.
