Iconic 1980s Vintage Kaypro II "Luggable" Computer
​Up for sale/sale is a classic piece of computing history: the Kaypro II. This unit was recently recovered from an estate and is in solid physical condition for its age.
​Testing & Condition Details:
​Power Test: The unit powers on successfully. The "Power" and "Drive" LEDs illuminate as expected.
​Display: The built-in 9-inch green phosphor CRT screen is bright and clear. It displays horizontal raster lines upon startup, indicating the video components are operational (see photos).
​Physical Body: The heavy-duty metal "lunchbox" case is in good vintage condition. It shows some expected surface dust and minor grime from storage but has no major dents. The latching mechanism for the keyboard lid works properly.
​Ports: Rear interface ports (Serial, Printer, Keyboard) are physically intact with no visible corrosion or crushed pins.
​Keyboard: Included. Please note that there are two missing keycaps (one on the main board and one on the numeric keypad).
​What’s Missing / Needs Attention:
​Keyboard Cable: I do not have the proprietary 4-wire coiled cable to connect the keyboard to the main unit. Because of this, key input has not been tested.
​Software: No floppy disks or manuals are included.
​Maintenance: This is a 40+ year old machine. While it currently powers on, it is sold as-is for restoration, parts, or display.
​Shipping & Handling:
​This is a heavy, precision instrument (approx. 26 lbs). I will ensure it is double-boxed and packed with extreme care to protect the internal CRT screen. Local pickup is also available if you are in the Southwest Michigan area.
