Vintage Custom Pentium III SCSI PC Tower – Sold As Is
Large vintage custom-built PC tower measuring approximately 24 inches tall. This is an interesting late-1990s system featuring multiple Plextor optical drives and an Adaptec SCSI setup.
The computer powers on and successfully displays POST/BIOS. Video output works and the system can be accessed through the Award BIOS and Adaptec SCSISelect utility.
Observed / tested:
* Intel Pentium III processor
* POST screen reports Pentium III at 300 MHz
* Approximately 96 MB RAM detected (98304K)
* Award Modular BIOS
* Adaptec AHA-2940U2W SCSI controller
* SCSI utility successfully loads and detects:
* Seagate SX150176LC SCSI drive
* Plextor PX-R412C CD-R
* Plextor PX-32CS CD-ROM
* Multiple Plextor optical drives installed, including PLEXWRITER, UltraPlex and UltraPlex Wide
* DVD-ROM drive installed
* 3.5” floppy drive installed
* Floppy drive accepts/ejects disk normally
* DVD-ROM tray opens and closes
* Two Plextor drives were observed opening/closing; trays may reopen after being closed and may require service/adjustment
* Other installed optical drives were not fully tested and some appear not to be connected
* BIOS hardware monitor shows CPU fan operating
* System currently reaches “Disk Boot Failure – Insert System Disk” and does not boot into an operating system
* BIOS has displayed CMOS/checksum and CPU configuration messages; settings may require configuration and the CMOS battery may need replacement
The computer has not been fully tested beyond the functions described above. Optical drives were not tested for reading or writing discs. Hard drive contents/functionality have not been verified.
The case and components show normal cosmetic wear, dust, discoloration and signs of age. Please review all photos carefully for the exact configuration and physical condition.
