Vintage SmartLinc B.I.R.D. IO Broadband IR Controller
Early 90s IR Controller. Used for many different tasks by signaling IR devices using a computer and this device. This was cutting edge stuff on the consumer market when this was made. The very first smart homers used these to turn on multiple devices with a single remote. These were also used by research institutions such as MIT & You can find referenced to this device from MIT by doing a quick Google search.
I do not have any IR sensors or a power cord for this. Luckily this was made during a time when propriety ports were not the norm, so there should be options available- You should be able to find some sensors and get it working if you tried. They look like 3.5mm (mono, most likely) standard ports to me.
I have not tried to power the device. This is because I do not know the power input or polarity requirements. If you decide to try that, be sure you know what you are doing. It does not take much to overwhelm components and device modeling was less forgiving back then compared to devices made now.
