Vintage Solid State Music MB-6A 8K static RAM memory board for S-100 computer systems, bearing a 1976 copyright marking.
Designed around low power 2102 static RAM chips, with configurable wait states for memory read/write cycles and DIP switch selection of the board address. Memory protection could be configured in increments from 256 bytes through the full 8KB.
The design also provided a battery backup connection, an interesting feature for an early RAM board. No battery is included.
Populated with 64 memory chips, including Intel and NEC types, and four voltage regulators with heatsinks. Additional wiring and components are installed on both sides, as pictured; their purpose is unknown.
An interesting example of early S-100 memory hardware for a collection or restoration project.
Untested. Includes the exact board shown. Please review all three photos for components, modifications, and cosmetic condition.
