Authentic early-generation internal CD-ROM drive manufactured by Sony in Japan during late 1994. Unlike earlier proprietary Sony interface drives, the CDU55E model uses the standard ATAPI IDE protocol, allowing seamless connection to standard 40-pin IDE ribbon cables on vintage PC motherboards and multi-I/O controller cards.
A period-accurate drive for 486 and early Pentium-era retro PC builds running MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, or OS/2 Warp.
