The ZX Spectrum +2A, +2B computers were originally equipped with heavy (2kg in weight), transformer based PSU. Spectrum +3 was equipped with stronger, quite reliable, switching mode PSU handling bigger loads because of integrated 3"floppy drive. The best of the original PSUs were offering 5VDC@2A, [email protected] & [email protected]. All of these PSUs have same problem nowadays: all are nearly 40 years old and not longer reliable because of capacitors degradation. Old power supply, if still working, can ba a source of killing over voltage spikes that will burn your chips.
